Joe was setting on the bank watching skydivers jump

during a show…

Thinking to himself – 

“man I would love to do that!

What a rush – to feel the wind in your hair and 

the adrenaline, the excitement – maybe I’ll crash and burn

but maybe I‘ll experience my greatest fulfillment!

I have to do this…”

Well Joe had a bunch of friends that were afraid of heights!

They were like – 

“Man you are crazy!!

Why would you want to do that – stay here on the ground where it’s safe.

Stay here with us.”

Joe argued to prove his point..

“I am not afraid of heights 

I am tired of being down here instead of up there…

jumping with them!!

I want to be a skydiver – I don’t want to be a scaredy cat anymore!

But - 

Joe’s dream faded you see Joe had too many friends 

that didn’t agree with him..

he had too many friends that

warned him of failure.

Joe didn’t do what his heart was set on..

He didn’t take THAT LEAP until 20 years later.

When he turned 58 – Joe decided he was determined

to do it..

So this time he didn’t tell his “friends” and

Joe began classes and was instructed on how

to land and what steps he had to take – 

how if he didn’t he would not survive.

He studied his dream..

He learned his dream..

He felt his dream..

And when the time came Joe

stood at the door of the plane

heart pounding – sweaty palms 

and the noise of his buddies doubt

from 20 years ago ringing in his ears.

He took a deep breath and…

. . . . . . JUMPED.

He was scared at first…

Then – 

HE FELT LIKE A BIRD – FREE!

But he was off course..

He thought he was going to land in the river..

not in the area he was instructed to land..

What if he landed in the water…. 

What if he drowned..

What if…

But then he remembered how he was taught to “steer” his parachute.

So, Joe pulled the cord and Wahooooooooooooooo

It worked.

It did exactly what his instructor told him it would do!

Joe steered his chute in the direction he was told..

When it came time to land – 

HE HIT THE MARK!

If Joe had NOT listened to his “friends” 20 years earlier..

He could have fulfilled his dreams time and time again!

Moral of the story - 

“If you want to be a skydiver…

You can’t be in the environment of people who are afraid of heights!!”

** You never make your wing-men and fox hole buddies WRONG.

As a FRIEND, you are their SAFE zone.

We have heard, “be a reward for 10,000 people.”

It’s about being THERE for people.

And what’s so Fly about our industry, is that this INDUSTRY allows us to REHEARSE our friend-card to unknowns, to strangers and to a whole host of people MOST people don’t have access too.
